Today Alexandria, VA made its debut in the online Dove's Guide for Church Bell Ringers. While the information in the listing is still incomplete, it does reflect a major milestone in the progress toward change ringing at the Virginia Theological Seminary. Over the past two weeks, the new bells were blessed by the Dean of VTS, Whitechapel installed them in the new Immanuel Chapel tower, and they were rung for the first time, as a test of the installation. The test was successful, but much work remains to be done in both interior and exterior sound control and in finishing of the space. Since the chapel is still under construction, general ringing will not begin until sometime in early 2015. Dedication of the bells will occur at a later date.

Preparations for the VTS ringing program such as establishment of a web page, ringing schedules, etc. are underway and will be communicated in due course. Further information about the bells or the ringing program can be requested by email to <bell-tower-contact at vts dot edu>.
