How do you address lack of motivation from your ringers?

We've been having some issues here in Abilene with a lack of motivation from a couple of our ringers. We're at the level we can ring plain hunt on 4 reasonably (though not perfectly), with one problem: nobody wants to ring different bells (and they complain when you try to get them to) and every time I suggest rotating bells or something I'm always met with remarks like "that makes my brain hurt," "I don't think I'll ever be able to do that," among other things.

If I were to be completely honest the lack of motivation and total lack desire to improve from these couple of people is really starting to grind my gears (and the tower captain's, I should add). It really is just a couple that seem to do this, but since we currently only have 5 ringers + a couple of more in training, it's really holding those of us who want to move past plain hunt and into method ringing back.

I'm pretty desperate at this point to try to find ways to motivate them because they really are holding back our progress. I know if they'd actually spend some time with this stuff and would just do it instead of complaining about it they'd surprise themselves, but no matter what Robert and I do we can't get them over that mental block. It's like they REFUSE to move past it.

Something just isn't working. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get them past their mental block and get them motivated, please let me know. I'm at the end of my rope here (no pun intended).
