Recently several towers in North America have been ringing Cornwall Surprise Major, and it's become popular when surprise major ringers from different towers get together at various events. Over the past two years there have been at least seven quarters of Cornwall rung in North America:

• Pittsburgh, 25 April 2009
• On handbells in Pittsburgh, 26 April 2009
• Kalamazoo, 27 September 2009
• Pittsburgh, 15 July 2010
• And, also on 15 July 2010, a second quarter in Pittsburgh
• Washington (PO), 9 September 2010
• Washington (PO), 16 September 2010

This is a development well to be encouraged. Cornwall is in many ways a good method, better by most measures than some more commonly rung methods. It's no harder than things like Cambridge and Yorkshire, as folks will discover if they approach it with an open mind.
